1. Scope
This Acceptable Use Policy applies to your use of our Ireland website, the Simpled app and the connected digital services (together, the "Services"), operated by Simpled Tech Limited. It forms part of our Website & App Terms. Breach of this Policy is a breach of those Terms.
2. Lawful and authorised use only
You must use the Services and Simpled products only in ways that are lawful and only in relation to property and doors you own or are authorised to control. In particular, you must not:
- (a) use, or attempt to use, any Simpled product, credential, account or Service to access — or to help anyone else access — property you or they are not authorised to access;
- (b) use access logs or lock features to monitor or track any person unlawfully or in breach of their privacy or data-protection rights — if you use a lock in a shared home, rental or workplace, you are responsible for complying with the GDPR and Irish law and for informing occupants (including tenants, guests, cleaners and short-term-rental visitors) as required;
- (c) install a Simpled product on a door where doing so breaches a lease, fire regulation, building regulation or other legal requirement, or in a way that impedes emergency escape;
- (d) use the Services in connection with any fraud, harassment, stalking or other unlawful activity.
3. System integrity
You must not:
- (a) probe, scan or test the vulnerability of the Services, Simpled products or another user's devices without authorisation — security researchers should use our Vulnerability Disclosure programme, the authorised route with our terms;
- (b) attempt to bypass authentication, encryption or other security controls, or intercept communications between Simpled products, the app and our services;
- (c) introduce viruses, malware or other harmful code, or impose an unreasonable load on our infrastructure (including automated bulk requests, scraping and mirroring without our written consent);
- (d) reverse engineer, decompile or modify the App or firmware except to the extent the law expressly permits despite this restriction, or distribute modified firmware to others;
- (e) interfere with any other person's use of the Services.
4. Accounts and credentials
Provide accurate account information, keep credentials confidential, and do not sell, rent or share your account. Do not impersonate any person or create accounts by automated means. You are responsible for the access credentials (codes, fobs, cards, digital keys) you issue through your account, and for revoking them when appropriate.
5. Content standards
Any content you submit (reviews, photos, posts, support messages) must be accurate and lawful, must not infringe anyone's rights (including IP and privacy), and must not be defamatory, obscene, threatening, discriminatory or misleading (including undisclosed fake or incentivised reviews).
6. Commercial and rental use
6.1 The Services and consumer terms are intended for domestic and private use. If you use a Simpled product in a shared, letting, hotel, HMO, workplace, care or other commercial or institutional setting, you remain responsible for guest/occupant access, any required notice, and access-log and data-protection obligations to those occupants.
6.2 You must not resell access to the Services, offer commercial services built on our APIs or app without a written agreement with us, or use the Site's content or product data to build a competing catalogue or dataset. Where separate business, installer, property-manager or data-processing terms are offered, they will govern those deployments — contact us.
7. Enforcement
We may investigate suspected breaches, remove content, suspend or revoke accounts and digital access, and report unlawful activity to law enforcement (with disclosure of relevant data where the law permits or requires). We will act proportionately and, where appropriate, give you a chance to remedy a breach.
8. Reporting
Report misuse or security concerns to support@simpled.tech. For vulnerabilities, use the Vulnerability Disclosure page — please do not disclose vulnerabilities publicly before we have had a reasonable opportunity to address them.
