Law Enforcement & Emergency Requests

Our approach to authority requests for customer and device data.

Last updated: 20 July 2026

1. Purpose

This page explains how Simpled Tech Limited ("Simpled", "we") responds to requests from law enforcement, regulators and other authorities for customer or device data, including lock access logs. It is a general statement of our approach, not legal advice, and does not create rights for third parties.

2. Legal process required

We require valid legal process appropriate to the request and the requesting authority's jurisdiction. We disclose personal data to an authority only where the law requires or permits it, and after we have assessed the request.

We validate requests before responding — including the identity and authority of the requester, the legal basis, the territorial reach, and whether the request is specific and proportionate. We may ask for clarification or for the request to be narrowed.

We may decline or challenge requests that are invalid, overbroad, vague, not supported by proper legal process, or that appear inconsistent with applicable law or fundamental rights.

3. Data preservation

On receipt of a valid preservation request, we may preserve relevant data we hold for a reasonable period pending proper legal process, without this being a commitment to disclose it.

4. Minimum necessary

Where we do disclose, we aim to disclose only the data that is within scope, that we actually hold, and that is necessary to respond — no more.

5. Notice to account holders

Where lawful and appropriate, we may notify the affected account holder that their data has been requested, so they can seek to protect their interests. We may delay or withhold notice where we are legally prohibited from giving it, where it would be counterproductive (for example a genuine risk to life, an investigation, or child-safety concerns), or where the law otherwise requires.

6. Emergency requests

In a genuine emergency involving a risk of death or serious physical harm, we may consider a request on an expedited basis and provide information we reasonably believe necessary to help prevent or mitigate the emergency, consistent with applicable law. We may still require appropriate verification and will record the basis for any emergency disclosure.

7. Cross-border requests

Requests from authorities outside Ireland or the EU are assessed against applicable law, including any required legal-assistance channels such as mutual legal assistance or equivalent frameworks. We are not obliged to respond to foreign process that lacks a valid basis under applicable law.

8. What we do not publish

To protect the security of our products and customers, we do not publish operational security detail, the internal structure of access logs, or information that would help someone defeat a lock or misuse the request process.

9. How authorities contact us

Authorities should send requests to support@simpled.tech marked "Law Enforcement Request", with full details of the legal basis and scope. This channel is for authorities; consumers should use support@simpled.tech and see our Privacy Policy for data-subject rights.

10. Data-subject rights unaffected

Nothing on this page limits your rights under the GDPR and the Irish Data Protection Act 2018, including your right to complain to the Data Protection Commission (dataprotection.ie).
