1. Manufacturer / economic-operator identity
Simpled Tech Limited (registered in England and Wales, company number 13391034, registered office 2 Eastbourne Terrace, London, W2 6LG, United Kingdom) places Simpled-branded smart locks and accessories on the market. We identify our economic-operator role — whether Simpled acts as manufacturer, importer or distributor for GPSR / RED / WEEE purposes — and describe our obligations accordingly.
2. EU Responsible Person (General Product Safety Regulation)
Under the General Product Safety Regulation (EU) 2023/988 (applicable from 13 December 2024), products offered to EU consumers must have an EU-established economic operator responsible for product-safety compliance. Our EU Responsible Person and their EU postal address are available on request.
(This is a product-safety role. It is distinct from our GDPR Article 27 representative — see the Privacy Policy and Company Information pages — and from our environmental producer-responsibility registration below.)
3. CE marking and Radio Equipment Directive (RED) cybersecurity
3.1 Simpled smart locks are radio equipment (Bluetooth / Wi-Fi / Thread) within the Radio Equipment Directive (2014/53/EU). Radio-equipment cybersecurity requirements (Delegated Regulation (EU) 2022/30 activating Article 3.3(d)(e)(f): network protection, personal-data safeguards and fraud protection) apply to relevant products placed on the EU market from 1 August 2025, with harmonised standards EN 18031-1/-2/-3 supporting presumption of conformity.
3.2 Where a Simpled product bears the CE mark, the corresponding EU Declaration of Conformity and supporting technical documentation are available on request via support@simpled.tech. We state conformity per model only where it can be evidenced, and do not claim conformity we cannot evidence.
3.3 (Forward marker) The EU Cyber Resilience Act (Regulation (EU) 2024/2847) introduces a broader security regime for products with digital elements, with main obligations phasing in from around December 2027. We will update this page as those obligations take effect.
4. Product claims and certification
4.1 Any product-specific claim on our site (for example weather/IP rating, encryption, battery life, compatibility, or security-resistance attributes) is stated only where it can be substantiated for the relevant model, and is subject to the conditions and disclaimers on the product page and in our legal centre. Our approach to substantiating these claims per model is:
- IP / weather rating — we state a numeric IP rating only where a test report or verified OEM certificate exists for that model and panel; otherwise we describe it as "weather-resistant" without a numeric grade.
- Encryption — we describe the actual cipher deployed; we do not assert a "bank-level" comparison unless it is accurate for the deployed cipher.
- Security resistance — no lock is described as certified to a burglary-resistance standard (for example EN 1627 / PAS 24) unless a named certification is held; we do not imply an insurance-style guarantee.
- Country of origin — where origin is stated, we describe it accurately (designed in London; manufactured to our specification in China).
4.2 No Simpled product is represented as a fire-safety, egress or life-safety device (see our Website & App Terms).
4.3 Third-party software and services. Some app, connectivity and remote-management features of a Simpled lock may be provided through third-party software platforms and cloud services (currently including, where applicable, the TTLock platform) and/or through Simpled's own software and cloud services. We reserve the right to use, change, add to or replace these providers, including introducing a Simpled-branded app or Simpled's own cloud on the same hardware. Such features depend on third parties that may update firmware, change how a feature works, or cease a service; a change, interruption or withdrawal affecting a third-party platform does not necessarily mean that the physical lock is defective or non-compliant. Any issue will be assessed having regard to the functionality advertised or agreed at the time of purchase, the affected digital elements and your applicable statutory rights (including, where the lock is goods with digital elements, under the Consumer Rights Act 2022). The lock's core local locking function is designed to continue to operate, and your statutory rights are unaffected. Third-party platforms are governed by their own terms and privacy policies; see our Privacy Policy for how data flows through such platforms.
5. WEEE (waste electrical and electronic equipment)
5.1 Electrical and electronic equipment must not be disposed of with general household waste. The crossed-out wheelie-bin symbol on the product or packaging indicates separate collection.
5.2 We participate in Ireland's producer-responsibility system through The Producer Register Limited, Unit 47-51, Block 5, Northwood Court, Santry, Dublin 9, D09 FY88, Ireland (Ireland's national register for producers of EEE, batteries and tyres). Our compliance-scheme and take-back details are available on request.
5.3 Take-back. Retailers of EEE offer take-back of old equipment on a like-for-like basis when you buy a new equivalent product. You can also bring WEEE to civic amenity/recycling centres.
6. Batteries
6.1 Batteries and accumulators must not be disposed of with general household waste; the crossed-out wheelie-bin symbol applies. Portable batteries can be returned free of charge to battery take-back points, including many retailers.
6.2 Battery producer-responsibility obligations (including under the EU Batteries Regulation (2023/1542), producer-responsibility chapter from 18 August 2025) are met through our participation in the Irish producer-responsibility system (§5.2). Our battery-scheme details are available on request.
7. Product safety, traceability and recalls
7.1 We aim to maintain appropriate technical documentation and traceability for our products, and to cooperate with the competent authorities as required.
7.2 If a safety issue is identified, we will take appropriate corrective action, which may include a recall or safety notice, and will communicate with affected customers and authorities as required. If you believe a product presents a safety risk, contact support@simpled.tech.
